Adoption News
We’re so excited to share that Boomer has been adopted by his wonderful foster family! They gave him so much love, care, and patience, and somewhere along the way, he completely stole their hearts.
From a shelter in North Carolina to his furever home in Maine, Mike’s journey has come full circle! Now named Arlo (after The Good Dinosaur), he’s already been to the beach, collected crab shells, met the neighbors, watched sunrises, and even enjoyed live music at the local ice cream shop!
Ellie came to Underhound Railroad as an underweight stray, but when she kept gaining weight, we realized she had a surprise. She was pregnant! She was an amazing mom, and once her pups were off to new homes, it was finally her turn.
Underhound Railroad is honored to have had the support of Winter Page since our organization first began in 2009. In addition to fostering, adopting, volunteering, and fundraising, Winter has been a positive, outspoken advocate for animals in need.
Remember little Chico? Well, he’s officially Zippy now and the name fits him perfectly! This little guy loves to zoom around the house, spreading joy everywhere he goes.
Our longtimer handsome boy Ronnie has found his furever home, and we couldn’t be happier!

Reviews
Underhound Railroad was exceptional during our entire rescue adoption process. The foster home was wonderful and we were able to get all our questions answered. They went above and beyond to help is find the right rescue to add to our existing family and our current rescue dog. They made sure our home was safe and secure so that when we decided, we were all sure it was the right choice for us. We rescued our girl in December and couldn’t be happier! Thank you for your help adding an amazing new member to our home!

Penny (now our “little one”, Piccola) came to us after two weeks with her wonderful foster parents. It was a whirlwind romance–we fell for that adorable little pit face the moment we saw her. We don’t want to think too much about what Piccola went through before Underhound Railroad rescued her, took care of her, and brought her our way, but we plan to do everything to make the rest of her life as wonderful as possible. Thank you for stepping in when Piccola needed it! You’re organization is outstanding to work with and doing something exceptional.

We adopted our dog four years ago through Underhound Railroad. I was able to learn a lot about her from her foster and we were able to see that this dog would be a good match for us. Underhound volunteers take wonderful care of the dogs and pups they bring up from the south to save them from euthanasia. And that includes providing lots of love and patience as well as physical care. I wouldn’t hesitate to adopt another dog from Underhound Railroad.

I’ve adopted two wonderful dogs through this agency. They’ve been two of the best companions that I could ever ask for. The volunteers were always a delight to speak with and always putting the best interest of the dog before anything else.

Excellent, caring, ethical and well directed rescue. I have fostered dogs for them, evaluated dogs on their behalf in shelters and assisted with pulling those dogs for the rescue, and even adopted one of the dogs I fostered. Highly recommend.

Underhound Railroad helped to bring us a wonderful little pup after my husband and I suddenly and unexpectedly lost one of our precious fur babies. Everyone involved worked to hard and quickly to make sure all of the potential adoptors and fosters were matched with the perfect Underhound. Our dog has been such a joy for us and if ever we find ourselves looking for another furbaby… Underhound Railroad is going to be the first place we look!

Elle is starting the new year cozy, cute, and feeling very loved. 💜
This sweet girl is rocking her rubber ducky pajamas from our BOGO fundraiser with Pittie Clothing Co and showing off her new toy, leash, and collar thanks to Santa Paws. Even though the holidays have passed, the love and spoiling 😉 hasn’t stopped for Elle. Elle is an 8 year old mix breed who has been with our rescue since February 2025 and is still waiting for her furever family. She’s calm, gentle, and full of quiet affection. She enjoys simple things like soft beds, quality time, and being close to her people. 🫶
Elle is currently fostered in North Carolina with transport available to her adoptive home.
If your New Year’s resolution includes opening your heart to a deserving dog, Elle is ready. 💫 ... See MoreSee Less

Maverick’s journey started in South Carolina and led him to his furever home in North Carolina! He’s settled in beautifully with a wonderful family who loves including him in all their adventures, including a recent holiday trip to the mountains. ⛰️ He now has two dog brothers, two cat brothers, three human siblings, and even a cousin pup. So there’s never a shortage of playtime or cuddles. 🐾 We’re so happy for Maverick and his big, loving family. Happy tails Maverick! 🏠❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

So happy for Maverick!
2026 is already looking pretty good for Chief. 📆 The rescue calendars are out, and he’s proudly a cover boy. He even gave it a gentle “quality control” nibble. 🤭

As we head into the New Year, we can’t help but reflect on what this year has meant for so many dogs.
In 2025, 38 Underhound dogs found their way from uncertainty to safety, and finally into loving furever homes. These before and after photos tell that story better than words ever could.
Every adoption represents a life changed, a family made whole, and a reminder of why this work matters. None of it would be possible without our fosters, adopters, volunteers, donors, and supporters who show up for these dogs day after day. 🫶
We’re heading into the New Year grateful, hopeful, and ready to keep going for the dogs still waiting. Thank you for being part of their journey.
Happy New Year from all of us at Underhound. 🐾✨

🧚♂️✨ Tinkerbell had her stocking stuffed by Santa Paws and was very appreciative… at least until the toys met their inevitable fate. 😅 The photos show her enjoying her new gifts, but let’s just say the squeakers didn’t last long.
This long timer is still wishing for what matters most... a furever home of her own. 💞 Loyal, loving, and full of personality, Tinkerbell is ready to trade foster life for a lifelong love. 🫶 ... See MoreSee Less

Such a doll!
Waking up to Chief on Christmas morning would be the ultimate gift. 🎁🐾
This charming 5 year old bully boy is sweet, loyal, and happiest right by his people’s side. Chief loves his daily walks, car rides, puppuccino runs, and being included in everyday life. He’s affectionate, crate & potty trained, and has the best goofy charm. The kind that makes everyone fall in love (especially the ladies 😉).

Love this handsome boi!!!!!
Spending Christmas Eve with Bruno would be pretty perfect. 🎅🐾
This lovable, playful guy has an infectious smile, a heart full of joy, and that adorable one ear up, one ear flop look we can’t get enough of.
Bruno is house & crate trained, and absolutely loves toys, treats, and sprawling out on the couch with his people. He adores attention and would thrive as the star of the show in his furever home 🎄

Birdie has found her furever home and now goes by Zoey. 💕 She’s already answering to her adoptive name (and to Zo Zo and “pretty girl,” too). Her adopter shared that Zoey is doing amazing and has quickly become a favorite morning coffee companion and couch cuddle buddy. She’s settling in beautifully and is, in their words, one of the sweetest dogs they’ve ever had. Happy tails! ❤️🏠 ... See MoreSee Less
